Tools you will need:
Phillips Screwdriver
Procedure:
1. Remove the glass headlight lenses from the box and undo the metal spring clip by pushing down slightly and towards the center. Then remove the metal cover and install the LED light bulbs. Reinstall the metal spring clip to hold the LED bulb down. Note that the clip edges need to fit down inside the lip of the LED bulb, like in the picture below.
2. Now you can pop up the headlights so you can change the lens and bulb in the car. Put the key in the ignition and turn to the on position. The on position is one position away from starting the car. Then turn on the headlights. Once the headlights have popped up, you can turn the key to the off position. Then also turn the headlight switch one click to the left. This will keep the headlights popped up but they will not be on. Don’t replace the lens/bulb with the headlights on.
3. Remove the black plastic headlight surround by unscrewing the 1 screw at the bottom. This piece can be a little hard to remove but the bottom screw is the only thing holding it on. The easiest way to remove this piece is to pull the base of the plastic cover towards you and then down a little to remove the top.
4. The headlight lens is held on by the silver trim ring around the glass, with 3 small screw. Remove these screws carefully without dropping them and the headlight will come right out. Make sure you are unscrewing the correct screws. The headlight leveling and adjusting screws are close by and should not be loosened.
5. Unplug the old headlight and remove it.
6. Take your new headlight lens with the LED bulb already installed and plug in the wires. We found it best to tuck the wires to the side, like in the picture below.
7. Push the headlight lens into place on the housing. Note that only the small part of the tab will fit into the house.
8. Now you can install the new headlight in the same way you removed the old one. Put the silver ring around the headlight and secure it with the 3 screws.
9. Put the black plastic cover back on. Line up the bottom of the cover first and then squeeze the top of the cover under the colored metal headlight cover. This is not very easy to do, but removing the 2 screws on the side of the colored metal cover will help a little. Then screw on the plastic cover.
10. Repeat this for the other light and you are finished.
