Tools you will need:
Phillips screwdriver
Heat gun or lighter
10mm Wrench
17mm Wrench
Procedure:
1. Remove the nut cover on the rear wiper by lifting the bottom up. Then remove the 10mm nut and pull off the wiper arm.
2. Remove the black cover over the lower nut by pulling it straight up and off.
3. Remove the lower nut with a 17mm wrench. Then remove the washer and rubber seal.
4. Open the hatch and remove the plastic cover on the bottom of the wiper motor (if it’s still there).
5. If you have a 944 S2 or 968 (944WDP-2), just unplug the motor and move to step #9
6. Now remove the wires to the motor. Next remove the 2 phillips screws holding the motor onto the hatch and lower the motor out of the hatch.
7. * It’s very important to do something to the wires removed from the wiper motor. The green wire has power all the time once the car is started. If this wire gets grounded to the other wires or the frame of the car it will heat up very fast and cause a fire. The wires need to be either cut and sealed so they are safe or capped and sealed so they can not come in contact with a ground of any kind. * bold> big>
8. We have included some heat shrink tubing to seal the wires so your car won’t catch on fire. Here is what we suggest.
Cut the ends off of each wires and a slightly different length. Then install the heat shrink tubing on each wires so that the shrink tubing hangs over the end of the wire a little. Fold up the wires and install the larger shrink tubing to make a nice neat bundle with no chance of touching a ground.
9. Clean the glass around the hole both inside and outside so the new plug has a clean surface for sealing.
10. Now you can install the plug. Place the plug on both sides of the glass and screw on the large round plastic “nut” by hand. The outer part of the plug has a built in oring that will hold it stationary to the glass and keep it water tight. Tighten the inside “nut” by hand. Tighten it as hard as you can by hand, that’s all that needed. If you want to tighten it a little more, a strap wrench is best and will not scratch the plastic.
